Post from: Jane Burnett Smith I first came in contact with Barbara in 1995 when I attended a writers' conference in Houston. I signed for her discussion on publicity but at that time I did not introduce myself. The next spring in Boulder, Colorado, we were both present at a different writers' conference and this time several members of the committee presented me as Barbara's mother (because of our names) and we thought it was so funny that neither of us contradicted the statement. We often crossed paths, the last time at Anchorage, Alaska, and have kept in touch through the years. The authors who knew her well and also any person fortunate enough to make her acquaintance through the years will suffer a great loss with her no longer being part of our lives. Jane Burnett Smith |
